Irvings uses VirtualSellers.com for online security and order processing.

 Virtualsellers.com = Security

So, how safe is it?

VirtualSellers.com takes every precaution with your sensitive information and explains how it works.

Consider how you use your credit card now. At restaurants or department stores or gas stations or the grocery market your credit card is run through a machine (swiped) which carries your credit card information via telephone lines to a credit card processing center. This is safe because the phone connection is point to point and the transmission is a series of tones and squelches similar to a fax machine's noise.

When you order from a catalog company you happily recite your credit card information to the clerk. The clerk sends your credit card information over a different telephone line to a credit card processing center just like above. While this method has been used for years, there are two potential security issues.

  1. Cellular and cordless phones can be accidentally overheard by baby monitors and intentionally overheard by special scanners. You should never use a cellular phone to transmit your credit card information - this has been proven to be unsafe.

  2. People within earshot (like your co-worker in the next cubicle) can sometimes overhear your conversation and easily jot down your sensitive information. This is not intended to cause paranoia in the workplace, but should be considered.

With VirtualSellers.com you will have a choice of how you would like to pay for your transaction.

  • You can MAIL in your order form

  • You can FAX your order to TOLL FREE to 888-470-7355

  • Or, you can use our ONLINE SHOPPING BASKET to send us your order.

If you are using Netscape or Microsoft Explorer as you browser you will see either an unbroken key or a padlock on your screen.

These symbols tell you that any information you send to us will be "scrambled" using SSL technology. SSL (Secure Socket Layer) uses "Public-Key Encryption" to exchange a session key between you and our server. This session key is used to encrypt (or scramble) your transaction twice - when it is sent and when it is received.

So if someone had the technology to intercept your transmission, they would receive a completely garbled confusion of keyboard characters and computer symbols, like this: garble.GIF (1682 bytes)
rendering the information useless.

Once the information is received by VirtualSellers.com, it is sent for processing using the same methods as a face to face transaction, via a point to point phone connection with the credit card processing center.

For added security, we will only ship merchandise to addresses recognized by your credit card company as being associated with your account. If you need to ship to an alternate address, we may contact you to arrange the details.

VirtualSellers.com is always monitoring credit card use for any "abnormal" activity. While there are certainly many people that shop at more than one of the stores that VirtualSellers.com represents, an unusually high spending spree will raise eyebrows.

Now you should be ready to shop online.

Go through our web-site and shop as normal. When you have finished shopping fill in the order form with your personal information such as name, address, etc. You will then be able to continue to the payment options.

NOTE: It is at this point that our industry leading security will begin.

Now you have a choice. If you wish to mail or fax your order, click on the appropriate choice. A form suitable for mailing or faxing will be created and displayed on your screen. A copy of this form will also be emailed to you so be sure to use your correct email address.

If you are paying online with either credit card or check*, you will be prompted to enter your account information. After your information is entered, you will submit the information to complete the transaction.

*Paying online with a check is similar to a credit card, but you will be entering your checking account and bank information in place of your credit card number. A draft in the likeness of your check will be created and deposited. We will not have access to your account any more than if you mailed in a check. A graphic is supplied on the order form to help you with this process.

If you have any questions about any aspect of ordering online or offline, please email us your questions at cust_serv@virtualsellers.com or call us at 1-888-323-5218

Thank you and happy secure shopping!
